This study was intended to assess the economic impacts of increased big box development in Austin and was to address seven key tasks assigned by City Council. Three Austin civic organizations (the Austin Independent Business Alliance, Austin Full Circle, and Liveable City) became concerned that the report provided insufficient and/or inaccurate guidance to the Council. In response, they asked three nationally known authorities to review Big Box Retail and Austin and provide independent analysis of the report, its methodology, and its conclusions.
