Save Our Springs Alliance and Austin Independent Business Alliance have endorsed the Unconventional Austin petition, which would require Austin voter approval for the proposed $1.2 billion convention center expansion and redirect hotel tourism dollars towards cultural, heritage and environmental projects.  If the city clerk certifies that at least 20,000 signatures are valid, the petitioned ordinance will likely appear on this November's ballot. So far this year, 35 members, including Shubhra who earned her very first paycheck, have gained new employment through the Transitional Employment Program.
